It begins in the late 1940s, during the era of World War II. The grandfather, discovered the thrill of cycle racing. That racing spirit ran through his veins and was soon passed down to his son
Bandu Gunasekara.
Bandu was no ordinary racer. In the 1960s
and ’70s, he became a well-known figure on
the racing tracks of Sri Lanka, breaking records and setting new ones across the island. His machines were not just ridden, they were reborn. Bandu had a creator’s mind he swapped engines, built one-of-a-kind modifications, and crafted bikes that were as unique as his fearless riding style. Some of those rare creations still stand proudly in the museum today.Then came his son
Thusitha Gunasekara.
From childhood, Thusitha carried forward his father’s flame, racing with the same daring spirit. He grew into a champion, defeating some of Sri Lanka’s most famous racers, and was crowned Sri Lanka’s Supermotard National Champion in 2013.
But Thusitha’s dream went beyond trophies. After retiring, he chose not to sell the motorcycles that carried his family’s history.
Instead, he built a museum—a living tribute to his father and grandfather. Here, the machines, stories, and memories remain, open for everyone to experience.
This museum is more than metal and engines, it is the story of a family, of Sri Lanka’s racing heritage, and of a son’s devotion to keeping his father’s legacy alive for generations to come.
